As the new school years gets back into full swing, so does the start of the competition season for competitive gymnasts. Having had the summer holidays for additional training and upgrading their skills, this is the chance for the young athletes at Sapphire School of gymnastics, based at the Everyone Active sports centre in Hemel Hempstead, to showcase the hard work and dedication needed to be an aspiring gymnast.

The Hertfordshire county competition for gymnasts competing in levels 5 to 7 is the first event of the season, held at Marriott’s gymnastics club in Stevenage. Competing for Sapphire at level 6 in their respected age groups, Liv Bull took the silver medal while Emily Munro took 4th overall. Also competing in level 6 was Emily Turnock who came in 8th but with a strong beam score that was 2nd.

Following the Level 6 round was the gymnasts competing level 5. Kristina ball came 8th in the age 12 and over division with Rose Johnson just behind in 10th. Maddison Dixon came 12th in her age group against strong competition. The youngest Sapphire gymnast on the day was Cece Canaway who took the top spot in the Level 5 age 8 division. Alyssa Krauz put out a stunning floor display combined with strong performances allround to take the 2nd place spot in the age 9 division. Putting out the highest difficulty bar routine of the whole event. Looking forward Cece will be competing in the East of England finals this coming weekend.
