Starting the year in style, Sophie O’Flaherty from Sapphire Gymnastics placed 6th at the Compulsory 1 National finals. With strong performances on each piece, Sophie really shone on the bars where individually she stood out for her precision and technical understanding.
Compulsory 1 is the end of the gruelling elite routine in gymnastics, the final level to pass before moving on to the British Championships. The route is designed to prepare gymnasts to an international standard, so to come through with the success Sophie has shown gives Sapphire strong hope for her future.
With a busy season ahead, Sophie will be competing at the Welsh championships later this month and the English championships two weeks later before heading up to Liverpool for the British championships.
