We are recruiting a brand new Recreational Manager at one of our Sapphire Gymnastics clubs. Sapphire Gymnastics club is one of the largest artistic gymnastics in the country, with two sites within Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

Our gymnastics recreational programme is one of the most successful programmes within the club and in the East of England with over 2000 participants coming through our doors every week.

The club is looking for a person with a minimum level 2 UKCC qualification in any gymnastics discipline and previous experience coaching at grass roots level, leading/ managing a team of staff, along with competent IT skills.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • The development, planning and delivery of all recreational gymnastics activities.
  • Maintaining and increasing participation numbers throughout the programme.
  • Taking on lead and assistant roles within various coaching sessions.
  • The development of the recreational coaching team.
  • Talent identification within recreational sessions.
  • Day to day administrative duties. 

Qualifications/experience:

Essential: Current DBS / Safeguarding & Protecting Children / UKCC Gymnastics Level 2 coach / previous experience coaching grassroots / Previous experience managing/ leading team of staff.

Skills required:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all members of the club.
  • Ability to manage, lead and motivate a group of gymnasts and coaches.
  • Full clean driving license.
  • Understanding of talent identification.
  • To actively promote and maintain the club’s policies in leading by example.
  • To provide leadership and guidance to coaches under your direction.

Main tasks:

  • Supervising the coaching - To lead outlined coaching sessions, ensuring high standards of health & safety, quality and experience are maintained.
  • Staff Rota - To assign staff members of the coaching team to recreational sessions, ensuring that all sessions have the required amount of staff, distributed equally.
  • Contracts - Ensure all contracts are signed prior to term starting (quarterly), filed away
  • Day to day customer service and office administration.
  • Recruitment - To recruit employees and advertise job opportunities.
  • Organise and deliver the job interview, induction and ongoing management.
