European Championships 2016

Sapphire’s Gabby Jupp continued her successful come back after her 3 year of recovery from injury.

Gabby represented team GB at this years European Championships in Bern, Switzerland along with team mates, Becky Downie, Ruby Harrold, Claudia Fragapane and Ellie Downie.

In the team qualifications on 2nd June, Gabby competed on Bars and Beam. Gabby’s well executed bar routine gave her a score of 14.566 and earned her a place in the Bars apparatus final. On Beam Gabby performed a difficult routine without any major faults to score 14.000. Both of Gabby’s scores helped the British Senior Team to qualify in first place for the team final.

In the team final on 4th June, Gabby again competed on Bars and Beam. A clean routine on Bars gave her a score of 14.383, and her beautiful work on Beam scored 14.100. Gabby’s scores helped the British Team to take the European Team silver Medal.

On Sunday 5th June, Gabby competed in the Bars final. Apart from Gabby losing her grip on a big release skill early in her routine, she managed to complete her performance cleanly to score 13.400.

Gabby’s results in this years European Championship are a fantastic achievement for her and a positive step forward for her future representing Great Britain.

Congratulations to Gabby and her coach, Steve on Sapphire’s best ever result!
